Welcome Reception

The Welcome Reception is a great opportunity to network with colleagues, meet new people and relax after the first day of the Congress.

Emerging Research Breakfast

A limited number of places are available for Congress delegates to attend this Emerging Research Showcase breakfast in which six recent graduates of the Rural Research Capacity Building Program will present the findings from their research projects.

The Rural Research Capacity Building Program aims to increase the number of rural and remote health workers with knowledge and skills in evaluation and research methods by supporting candidates from across rural local health districts to undertake a formal research project over a twenty-two month period.

The Showcase program will include presentations including: RCT on dietary preparation for prostate radiation, Decision making capacity assessment for confused rural hospital patients, Advance Care Plans post stroke, Pre-operative Oxford Knee Score for predicting patient reported success 6 months post-total knee arthroplasty, Experiences of informal caregivers in managing the care and the death in the rural palliative care home setting, Effectiveness of a new mental health telephone triage service in rural NSW and Fear of Falling in Community-Dwelling Adults 65 years and Older in Regional New South Wales.

Congress Dinner

The theme for the 2017 Congress Dinner is SPORT!
Sport is about wellness- keeping fit, having fun and working as a team. What better place to celebrate sports than in Wagga Wagga, known as the "City of Good Sports". Many of Australia's sporting heroes hail from Wagga Wagga prompting a study by the Australian Institute of Sport in 2005 to understand why this Riverina town produces so many elite athletes. The research proved that the City's talent pool was more than just good luck, describing the sporting phenomenon as the 'Wagga Effect'.

The Congress Dinner tickets are $80.00 per person and include canapés on arrival, main and dessert, served with wine, beer and soft drink from 6.30pm. Join us for an enjoyable night of great food and music!
