Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is a not for profit primary healthcare organisation. Our aim is to improve the health and wellbeing of our people, resulting in resilient communities across the Murrumbidgee.

Established in 2015 under the Australian Government’s Primary Health Network Programme,MPHN is one of 31 PHNs in Australia with the objectives of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, and improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

This is achieved by:

  • undertaking population health planning and priority setting using reliable health data and evidence and on criteria that is open to public scrutiny
  • monitoring trends in service needs and utilisation, and areas likely to impact on the future health status of our communities
  • funding health services and activities to address population health needs and improve coordination of care
  • providing support and education to GPs and other health professionals to improve the management of at risk patient groups.

PHNs are tasked with working across six key priority areas: mental health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, population health, health workforce, eHealth and aged care.

MPHN covers a land area of 124,412 square kilometres and services a population of 240,755. The organisation works across fours sectors within the MPHN region: Riverina, Wagga Wagga, Border, and Western.
